Geography

The Vileika region is a part of the Minsk oblast. The region lies in the north-west part of the Minsk oblast. It borders on the Myadel, Molodechno and Logoisk regions of the Minsk oblast, the Dokshitsy region of the Vitebsk oblast and the Smorgon region of the Grodno oblast. 

There are 407 villages in the Vileika region with the population of 26,471 people. The population of the town of Vileika is 28,570 people. The total area of the region is 2,400 square kilometres. Forests cover 41% of the territory of the region. The biggest part of the Vileika region is situated in the Naroch-Vileika Lowland. In 1974, the biggest artificial water reservoir was built near the town of Vileika. The reservoir is 63,3 square kilometers.

The Vileika region includes 13 rural councils. The administrative centre of the region is the town of Vileika.
